A translation coordinator is assigned to each client to monitor the quality of services throughout the translation process and ensure consistency in project management. The coordinator will discuss the specifics of the project with the client, including time frame, costs and target audience.
Glossary compilation refers to compiling a glossary of terms specific to the client's company and industry. The glossary is used to ensure that the terminology is consistent with the terms already utilized by the client's foreign subsidiaries. We work with you to develop this glossary and have the translated terms approved by your international reviewers. BioMedical Translations uses TRADOS software to build translation memories and glossaries.
Third step - Translation, Editing & Proofreading All of our linguists are native speakers of the language into which they translate.
We use the client's expertise and working knowledge of their products by collaborating with their overseas affiliates, who review the translation and provide their comments. Changes to the technical terms are input at no charge; changes to style or general changes to the text are input at an hourly rate.
Once the text is finalized, our formatter uses the formatted English files to flow in the foreign language text. The formatted document is then galley reviewed by the proofreader on the project. Galley review refers to the process of proofing the formatted foreign language version for correct hyphenation, placement, and formatting. We can also galley review proofs which have been formatted by our clients' own graphics department. Our formatting services include:
PDF proofs of the formatted versions are submitted to the client for approval. Your in-house graphics staff will have the opportunity to review the proofs and suggest changes.
The final documents will be delivered by email in electronic format. If the files are large, we can either post them on our secure FTP site or mail a CD. Hard copies are available upon request. We can also deliver a lino output or camera ready copy. Lino output refers to high resolution output from an imagesetter, also known as "linotronic output" or "camera-ready copy." This photographic image is what your printer will use for printing. Output is available at 1200 d.p.i., and we can provide either paper or film, depending on your printer's needs.
